What is Alchemy? Alchemy
is
an ancient art especially practiced in the Middle Ages primarily to
discover a substance that would transmute common or base metals into
gold or silver, and to find a means of prolonging human life.
Alchemy
is
also a vast mythological system of symbols and metaphors, beings and
stories, geometries and diagrams, elements and heavenly bodies,
designed to represent aspects of the human psyche and spirit, as well
as provide guidance towards the nature of the Universe. Two famous
alchemists were Merlin and Saint Germain.
